KDF Process Media can remove up to 99% of water-soluble lead, mercury, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals. All KDF Process Media forms are effective in controlling the buildup of bacteria, algae, fungi and scale, making them ideal for use in GAC beds, ion exchange resins, carbon block filters and inline carbon filters. Wherever our Media are used, they can eliminate the need for costly, and sometimes harmful, chemical treatments.

KDF用于活性炭过滤设备中具有明显的抑菌效果，美国环境保护署（USEPA）将KDF处理介质定为"微生物抑制装置"。KDF适用于氯气处理过的市政自来水，KDF水处理介质符合环保要求，是较为理想的水处理方法。其原理是利用氧化还原反应，KDF与水中氧化性有害物质进行电子交换，把许多有害物质变为无害物质。KDF处理介质可以去除水中的重金属离子，如铅、汞、铜、镍、镉、砷、锑和其他许多可溶性重金属离子，它们的去除是通过电化学氧化还原反应和催化作用完成的。KDF有KDF55和KDF85两种主要产品。KDF55处理介质使用反冲洗装置且寿命长，受污染时可用盐酸清洗。用KDF55处理介质可以进行高纯水生产预处理，在厨房水龙头到工业冷却水处理中均可应用。
